Inside Anxiety and Outside Anxiety
Last week I went to see Inside Out 2 with my family. It was incredibly well done and I highly recommend it. However, what I want to talk about here is anxiety - the character and the emotion.
Inside Out 2 has one of the best depictions of anxiety that I have ever seen. Without giving anything away about the plot of the movie, the character does an incredible job of embodying the problems that can be caused when anxiety is added to the mix, how anxiety can interact with other emotions, and most importantly how anxiety on the inside might not be visible on the outside.
Understanding anxiety can be difficult, regardless of your age. This movie breaks it down in a way that is both informative and entertaining. It also demonstrates that there can be good things that come from anxiety in certain cases. These are all points we here at The LegalMind Society try to convey when educating audiences about conditions such as generalized anxiety disorder, even if we don’t do so in as entertaining a manner.
We also want to note that if you are struggling with anxiety you are not alone. That is another message I hope people take away from this movie, and a point that is central to our peer support work here. Many people experience anxiety on a regular basis, including those who offer peer support
If the movie hits close to home for you because you are struggling with anxiety, know that we are here to help. Email info@thelegalmindsociety.org to learn how we can help support you and help you understand tools that can be used to manage anxiety.
