Reason for Not Getting Support

Despite increased awareness, mental wellbeing in the legal profession continues to be a challenge. With more attention being paid to the challenges of mental wellbeing, it raises the question; why do people delay seeking treatment?

According to a 2024 report by Bloomberg, there are a variety of reasons for delaying treatment.

  • 72% said they didn’t have time,

  • 52% said they believed they could handle it themselves,

  • 29% said they didn’t know where to go,

  • 29% said there were financial concerns,

  • 16% said stigma,

  • 16% said threats to their job status,

  • 15% said privacy concerns, and

  • 8% cited other reasons.

Given the reality of the legal profession, this is not surprising. Too many consider themselves too busy, or find the optics of going to a bar association’s LAP as raising privacy concerns.

This is one of the reasons The LegalMind Society exists, to cut through some of these barriers. Our peer support is free, features flexible scheduling, and uses HIPAA compliant practices. Yet we can still use help getting the word out, which is where you can come in. Letting your colleagues know can help them and help us. And if you want to know more about our programs, email us at info@thelegalmindsociety.org.
