Trust

One of the hardest things about recovery for me was having enough trust to open up and be vulnerable. Even with trained professionals who I know are bound by confidentiality rules, it was a challenge for me.

And of course, law school didn’t necessarily make that easier for me. Indeed, I suspect many legal professionals struggle with opening up.

Yet what I’ve learned through my recovery journey is that trust is a process, and there is no rushing it. Rushing trust risks getting hurt by someone who didn’t deserve your trust. I learned that the hard way. Relationships must be built on a foundation of trust and that foundation, like all foundations, needs to be laid one stone at a time.

Trust is built by opening up a little. Then a little more. And then, whenever you are comfortable, a little more.

The peer-support we offer here is all about meeting you where you are at. You get to choose how much or how little to share. And an essential part of the peer process is the trust that comes having your trained peer specialist share their story.

We understand there might be questions about our services. We are here to support you and answer whatever questions you have. Email info@thelegalmindsociety.org if you want to learn more, and begin building a recovery based relationship with a peer specialist you can trust.
